EUROPEAN TOURISM MANAGEMENT

The Master of Arts degree programme in European Tourism Management (ETM) is a unique study programme with respect to content as well as presentation. The programme is organized ad taught simultaneously by seven leading tourism institutes in Europe: Bournemouth University(UK), Hochschule Heilbronn (Germany), Hogskolan Dalarna ( Falun/ Borlange, Sweden), NHTV Breda University of Applied Sciences (the Netherlands), Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (Madrid, Spain), Universidade do Algarve (Faro, Portugal), Universite de Savoie (Chambery, France). The programme is a part of Bournemouth University’s Tourism Masters Framework and leads to the award of Master of Arts from the British University.

AIM: This course aims at providing theoretical knowledge in the field of tourism as well as applied techniques of international management. The course seeks to produce potential managers for both private companies and public bodies involved in tourism throughout Europe.

The necessary insight and understanding of the existing cultural differences between countries and their implications is forested by letting students work together in international project teams.

This objective will be met by developing the following skills and competencies:

  • Knowledge and understanding of, and ability to work with the administrative, financial and policy frameworks and structures of the European Union and other relevant international organization involved in tourism;
  • Ability to appraise and respond in strategic and tactical terms to issues facing ,managers in tourism;
  • Ability to deal with specific tourism related issues;
  • Aptitude for working in a multi-lingual, international team;
  • Ability to demonstrate clear, analytical, synthetic and strategic skills in at least two European languages.
