The Computing course aims to provide the core competencies required for a career in building centralised and distributed software systems. It covers areas such as, information systems analysis, database design, software engineering, user interface development, networking and internet technologies. There is a strong emphasis on industrial relevance and professional development. Project management and research skills are introduced in year 2, and are further enhanced by the specialist final year project.

The Computing degree course has a core of foundation material in the first year of study, giving exposure to the breadth of the discipline. At higher levels we also emphasis practical applications in areas of the School’s research expertise. The British Computer Society accredits this degree course.
