Study in Vrije Universiteit

vrije universiteit

Innovative, inspiring, involved

Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam sees itself as an inspiring, innovative and involved institution. It stands for high-quality, socially relevant and novel research. Work that enjoys national and international recognition. Our academics include biological psychologist Dorret Boomsam, cancer expert Bob Pinedo and spatial economist Peter Nijkamp, all of whom have been awarded the prestigious Spinoza Prize, regarded as the Dutch equivalent of the Nobel Prize. Or take clap skates, which were developed by human movement scientists of VU Amsterdam and have considerably improved times in the sport of speed skating. On the education front, VU Amsterdam offers an inspiring learning environment in which students can develop to their full potential and are challenged to reveal the best in themselves. Not only in the classroom, but also on work placements, on exchange programmes and in the use of study aids like IT facilities. Wherever they go and whatever they do, VU Amsterdam graduates leaves us with a positive view of the world. Perhaps this is why many Dutch government ministers and other leading political figures of recent years once attended Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. As a university which considers itself socially committed, VU Amsterdam dedicates its education and research to serving the community with quality. A key part of that is sustainable development.
